AI Transparency
How we use artificial intelligence to power legal workflows.
Hello JURI uses AI to support legal work such as review, research, drafting, and organization. This page explains in plain language what AI helps with, where human review is still needed, and what choices you have when using AI-powered features.
Key Principle
Our AI is designed to assist, not replace, human legal professionals. All AI-generated outputs should be reviewed by qualified attorneys before use in legal matters.
1. Our AI Technology
Hello JURI uses AI tools from Hello JURI and trusted service providers to support key parts of the product. We keep the exact internal setup private, but the main ways AI is used in the Service are:
- Document Review: Pulling out important details, organizing information, and summarizing legal documents
- Legal Research Support: Helping surface relevant authorities, source material, and research leads
- Drafting Support: Helping prepare first drafts, clause language, and document revisions
- Search and Matching: Helping find related documents, clauses, and records more quickly
2. How We Use AI
2.1 Document Analysis
Our AI analyzes legal documents to:
- Extract key information (parties, dates, clauses, obligations)
- Identify document types and structures
- Highlight potential risks and important provisions
- Generate document summaries
- Suggest relevant precedents and similar documents
2.2 Legal Research
Our AI assists with legal research by:
- Searching source material in a more context-aware way
- Helping surface relevant cases, statutes, regulations, and other authorities
- Preparing short summaries to speed up review
- Helping connect related legal concepts and issues
- Suggesting authorities to review further
2.3 Document Drafting
Our AI helps draft documents by:
- Generating document templates based on user specifications
- Suggesting language for specific clauses or provisions
- Adapting existing documents to new contexts
- Checking for consistency and completeness
3. Training Data
Your Data Privacy
We use controls designed to keep your personal information and uploaded documents out of general AI model training. Your data is processed to provide you with the Service and is not intentionally incorporated into the training data of the AI models we use unless you explicitly opt in to help improve our services.
3.1 Foundation Model Training Data
Some of the AI systems behind the Service were developed using large collections of public and licensed materials. We do not publish the full internal makeup of those systems. For customer data, our position is simpler: we use controls designed to keep your content from being used to train general-purpose AI models unless you or your organization explicitly opt in.
4. Capabilities and Limitations
4.1 What AI Can Do Well
- Summarize long documents and identify key points
- Retrieve and synthesize information from large document sets
- Suggest relevant authorities and precedents
- Generate first drafts of routine documents
- Identify potential issues or inconsistencies in documents
- Assist with formatting and organization
4.2 Important Limitations
AI Limitations You Should Know
- • AI may generate inaccurate, outdated, or incomplete information
- • AI has knowledge cutoff dates and may not reflect current law
- • AI cannot assess the specific facts of your case
- • AI may not understand jurisdiction-specific requirements
- • Coverage and freshness can vary by source, jurisdiction, and workflow
- • AI-generated citations should always be independently verified
- • AI cannot exercise legal judgment or provide strategic advice
4.3 Knowledge Cutoff Dates
AI systems can miss recent legal developments or changes in the law. That is one reason all outputs must be checked against current authorities and the facts of the matter before use.
5. Human Oversight Requirements
Human Review is Mandatory
All AI-generated content must be reviewed by a qualified human before being used in legal matters. This includes, but is not limited to:
- • Verification of all legal citations and authorities
- • Confirmation that cited cases have not been overruled or distinguished
- • Assessment of applicability to your specific factual situation
- • Review for accuracy and completeness
- • Compliance with jurisdiction-specific requirements
6. Potential Biases
AI systems may reflect or amplify biases present in their training data:
- Historical Bias: Training data may reflect historical biases in legal systems
- Geographic Bias: Certain jurisdictions or practice areas may be over or under-represented
- Language Bias: Models may perform better in some languages than others
- Temporal Bias: Older models may not reflect recent legal developments
We recommend that users critically evaluate AI outputs for potential bias, particularly in matters involving protected characteristics or historically marginalized groups.
7. Your Rights
7.1 Right to Explanation
You have the right to understand how AI is being used in the Service. This page provides that transparency. If you have additional questions about specific AI features, please contact us.
7.2 Right to Human Review
Under GDPR Article 22, you have the right not to be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing that produces legal effects. Our Service is intended to support human oversight rather than replace it. AI provides assistance, but final decisions rest with human users.
7.3 Right to Opt Out
While core features of the Service rely on AI, you can control which AI features you use within your account settings. You may also request that your data not be used for AI quality improvement purposes by contacting legal@hellojuri.com.
8. Quality and Accuracy
8.1 Accuracy Disclaimer
AI-generated content may contain errors, including but not limited to:
- Incorrect or fabricated legal citations
- Misstatements of legal principles
- Outdated information
- Contextual misunderstandings
- Logical inconsistencies
8.2 Quality Monitoring
We review AI performance and work to improve reliability through:
- Reviewing output quality
- Considering user feedback
- Checking whether results are useful for legal workflows
- Updating our tools over time when appropriate
